Adelphi women’s field hockey ranks in DII poll in week four: NFHCA

Emma Westbrook (Newberry), Caroline Beakes (Adelphi), and Marissa Rice (Kutztown) have been clutch to their respective teams.

Adelphi field hockey enters the National Field Hockey Coaches Association week four rankings for the first time this season claiming the No. 10 spot.

It was the only change from last week’s poll to this week’s poll. The top nine teams remain unchanged. The NFHCA poll is a composite made up of participating Division II member coaches.

Adelphi is 6-3. They recently beat Saint Anselm, last year’s NCAA Division II National Champs 2-1.

Kutztown, ranked No. 2, made history by setting two program records. After defeating No. 6 Bloomsburg 2-0, the Golden Bears notched their best-ever start to a season and extended their longest winning streak to 11.

At No. 3, Newberry’s Emma Westbrook delivered a career performance, scoring four of the Wolves’ six goals in a dominant performance over Converse.

Olivia Bond fueled No. 7 Lander’s 2-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial, scoring twice in just over three minutes during the third quarter.

Millersville, at No. 8, tied a program record with 13 goals in a single game, matching the mark first set in 1994. Ten different players scored in the victory, matching the team’s depth from that historic game.

According to the NFHCA, the poll is voted on by designated NFHCA member coaches from each conference and has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.

Bolded teams have moved positions higher or lower from week-to-week.
