Fairfield field hockey joins final poll, UNC finishes in first: NFHCA

Valentine Van Hellemont (Drexel), Beth Yeager (Princeton), and Lou Combrinck (Liberty) helped their teams secure strong finishes in the regular 2025 NCAA Division I season.

Fairfield University joined the women’s field hockey national rankings for the first time in the 2025 campaign after their NEC Championship victory.

The Stags are set to play Boston University in the 2025 NCAA Division I Tournament.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association posted its final Division I poll for the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Drexel, which won the CAA Championship over top-seeded Monmouth, are set to play Saint Joseph’s in the NCAA Tournament. The conference championship title is the program’s first title since 2012.

Princeton handed Harvard their first loss of the season in the championship Ivy League Tournament game. The Tigers won 2-1 over the Crimson.

Despite the defeat, both teams are set to play in the NCAA tourney.

The Big East Champions — Liberty — won over UConn, 2-1 in overtime to earn the trophy. Thanks to Lou Combrinck’s game-winning goal, the Lady Flames earned their third conference title in program history.

North Carolina finishes first, followed by their dominant ACC Championship win. Northwestern follows in second, after they clinched the Big Ten Tournament Championship.
