Kutztown rises to No. 1 in Week 3 NFHCA poll after upsetting Shippensburg last week

Kutztown field hockey has taken over at No. 1 in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll.
The Golden Bears were able to hold onto their pristine record after taking down formerly-ranked No. 1 Shippensburg 1-0 this past week.
The NFHCA poll is published on Tuesdays throughout the college field hockey season. It has no bearing on team selections in the 2026 NCAA Division II postseason tournament.
Unbeaten East Stroudsburg remains steady at No. 3, while West Chester’s 4-0 start lifts the Golden Rams into a tie for fourth. Bloomsburg and IUP also strengthen the top half of the poll.
Kutztown’s Ellie Myers is averaging 1.14 goals per game for the nation’s highest-scoring team, which is producing 5.72 goals per contest and owns the best scoring margin in Division II.
West Chester’s Anna Finn is tied for second nationally at 1.50 goals per game, while Newberry’s Wibien Dahmen combines one goal per game with a Division II-best 1.25 assists per game.
Bloomsburg’s Genna Bush is scoring at a goal-per-game pace, and playmakers Raegan Iasiello of Bloomsburg and Elaiana Rivera-Lagalla of East Stroudsburg are each averaging 0.83 assists.
Newberry has climbed into a tie for No. 4 at 4-1, fueled by Dahmen’s scoring and Division II-leading playmaking.
According to the NFHCA, “the poll is intended to provide a weekly snapshot of the nation’s top-performing programs based on results, strength of competition, and insight from the sport’s coaching community. Beginning after the second week of regular-season competition, teams must maintain a .500 record or better to be eligible for ranking consideration.
“These rankings reflect the collective assessment of the designated voting coaches each week and are designed to spotlight performance on a national scale. The Coaches Polls are independent of the NCAA Championship selection process and are not intended to predict or determine postseason qualification or seeding.”
