NCAA Division I field hockey weekend scores and three games to watch tonight
NCAA Division I action continues this evening.
The NCAA Division I field hockey Thursday evening slate has a heavyweight feel, with two unbeaten teams putting perfect starts on the line and another top-five program stepping into a Big Ten test.
The night’s marquee matchup sends No. 1 Northwestern to Stanford at 9 p.m. EDT, a cross-country showdown between two 6-0 teams. While Stanford remains unbeaten, they are currently not ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I poll.
Northwestern remains the top team in the latest NFHCA poll, while Stanford enters with its best start under head coach Roz Ellis and a chance to make a national statement on its home field.
Miami (Ohio) travels to Longwood for a 5 p.m. start as the RedHawks look to steady themselves after dropping out of the top 20. At the same time, No. 5 Maryland visits Penn State in a conference matchup that gives the unbeaten Terrapins another chance to reinforce their fast rise in the national rankings.
With Northwestern-Stanford headlining the night and Maryland facing its first Big Ten road test, Thursday offers an early-season measuring stick for programs trying to turn strong September starts into postseason momentum.
