No. 2 Kutztown field hockey upsets No. 1 Shippensburg, DII scores, schedules, where to watch
Shippensburg field hockey’s undefeated start came to an abrupt halt Thursday night, as PSAC rival Kutztown handed the Raiders their first loss of the season.
The Bears stay perfect at 6-0, while Shippensburg are now 3-1.
Kutztown pounced on a Shippensburg error, two minutes into the second quarter, when a backwards pass along the Raiders’ backline failed to connect. Julia Traynor intercepted it inside the circle.
Traynor immediately hit the ball toward the cage, where Ellie Myers was waiting on the doorstep. Myers collected it cleanly and slipped the finish past the Shippensburg goalkeeper, giving the Golden Bears all the offense they needed.
The 1-0 score will provide an adjustment to the overall ranking in the third week of NCAA Division II field hockey.
