Penn State women’s volleyball star Izzy Starck is taking a break this season, ‘prioritizing’ her mental health
A few moments before the No. 5 Penn State women’s volleyball team hosted No. 4 Kentucky Friday in PSU’s three-day invitational, national star Izzy Starck made a personal announcement.
Starck wrote in an Instagram post:
“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step away from volleyball for this season in order to prioritize my mental health.”
Starck played an impactful role in Penn State’s run for the 2024 NCAA Division I National Title. She earned a ton of accolades and gained attention for her work ethic and ability to compete at the highest level in collegiate volleyball.
Speculators say that her departure doesn’t reflect on the current talent at Penn State and that the reigning champs still have the potential for another title in 2025.
Starck is one of the best setters in the country. Addie Lyons has taken her place.
