Nebraska women’s volleyball continue unstoppable momentum, No. 1 again in AVCA DI poll

Stanford’s Lizzy Andrew, Nebraska’s Rebekah Allick, and Kentucky’s Molly Tuozzo are helping to keep their respective squads ranked in the AVCA poll.

Not much has changed throughout the past few weeks in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The week seven Division I poll (week eight overall) was published on Monday. The women’s volleyball polls are rankings determined by a committee of AVCA-member coaches, who vote based on the teams' performance throughout the season.

Nebraska have continued to rollout a 16-0 record. Senior middle blocker Rebekah Allick continues to dominate the court, specifically against Penn State, where Allick had nine kills and a .615 hitting percentage, her third-best percentage this season.

The Cornhuskers face Michigan State on October 17.

Also undefeated, and willing to do the work to claim the No. 1 spot is Texas. The Longhorns are 14-0.

Senior libero Emma Halter has topped the leaderboard in digs in 10 out of the 14 matches the team has played.

Texas will matchup against Arkansas on October 17.

Kentucky isn’t budging from No. 3. The Wildcats have a 12-2 record and a nine-match winning streak.

Molly Tuozzo is holding the top spot for digs (197) and has earned the most digs for 12 of the 14 matches the team has played. Her season high is recorded against Southern Methodist with 21 digs.

Louisville is one rung below Kentucky at No. 4. The Cardinals are 14-2 and are on a seven-match winning streak.

Freshman Kalyssa Blackshear came out hot during the team's last match against the Virginia, earning 20 kills and taking the top spot on the team that match.

The Cardinals will play SMU on October 17.

Coming in at No. 5 is Stanford University with a record of 14-3 and a two-match winning streak.

The Cardinal that stood out this week is the sophomore middle blocker Lizzy Andrew. Andrew is currently holding the second-highest spot on her team for kills (154) and has a season high of 14 kills against Virginia Tech.

Stanford University will matchup against Florida State University on October 16.

Bolded teams have moved positions higher or lower from week-to-week.
