USWNT finish 2026 World Cup in No. 10 position after falling 3-1 to No. 7 England: results

The United States Women's Field Hockey Team fell to No. 7 England in its final match of the 2026 FIH World Cup on Thursday.
England held the advantage in penalty corners, possession, and circle entries. Two of its three goals came from set pieces, while the No. 10-ranked United Eagles converted one of their penalty corner opportunities.
The United States responded after England opened the scoring, finding an equalizer through Ryleigh Heck. Heck redirected an on-target drag flick from Ashley Hoffman to level the match.
With the result, England finished ninth in the tournament, while the United States placed 10th.
Host nations the Netherlands and Belgium met in a semifinal showdown, with the Dutch edging Belgium 1-0 on home soil. The reigning World Cup champions will face Argentina in the championship match on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Argentina also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Australia in Thursday's second semifinal.
Belgium and Australia will meet in the bronze medal match, with third and fourth place on the line.
