No. 1 Tampa women’s volleyball continue to have an undefeated season: AVCA

Varvara Osychenko (Barry), Jenna Davis (Tampa), and Austini Broadie (Washburn) contributed to their squad’s recent successes.

The Tampa women’s volleyball team has spiked its way to the top all season.

The Division II squad remains undefeated at 19-0 and ranked No. 1 earlier this week in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Senior middle blocker Jenna Davis, who has reached the leaderboard with her blocks for three matches in a row, was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The Spartans’ boo crew are scheduled for a Halloween romp against Nova Southeastern on October 31.

Washburn, ranked at No. 2, has a current record of 20-1 and an eight-match winning and sweep streak.

Senior middle hitter Austin Broadie currently holds the third-highest number of blocks (45) on the team this season. She’s also holding the top spot on the team in kills (231). 

Washburn is looking to ghost Missouri Western State on Halloween.

Then, at No. 3 is Barry College with a current record of 16-2 and a two-match winning streak. 

Junior outside hitter Varvara Osychenko topped the leaderboard in digs (11) during the team's last match against Saint Leo. Osychenko is also holding the second-highest spot on the team for digs (163).

The Barry Buccaneers will play again on October 31 against Eckerd College.

Coming in at No. 4 is the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a current record of 21-2 with a three-match winning streak.

Junior middle blocker Mia Berg collected stats in blocks during the team’s last match against Fort Hays State. Berg is also third on the team in blocks (41). 

The Halloween matches continue with the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers scheduled to compete against Pittsburgh State on October 31. 

Finally, at No. 5 is Point Loma Nazarene with a current record of 18-2 and a five-match winning streak.

Freshman middle blocker Kyra Miles is holding the second-highest spot on the team in blocks this season, as well as topping the leaderboard during the team’s last match.
