Nebraska stays in No. 1 spot in week three Division I women’s volleyball poll: AVCA
Nebraska women’s volleyball is having a perfect start to the 2025 Division I season.
The renowned Cornhuskers are unsurprisingly at No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association week three Division I poll, which was published earlier this week. They have held the spot since preseason.
Freshman Teraya Sigler recently had a standout match against Grand Canyon University.
She swept the top spots for kills (14) and points (15), with her freshman teammate, Mania Ogbechie, right behind her.
Texas is No. 2, for the third week in a row, and has a current record of 7-0. Following last season, Texas has moved higher within the ranks, coming up from No. 11 to No. 2.
Cari Spear, a freshman outside hitter, is one to watch. The Longhorns' last match against Arizona State University was Spear’s season-high game, breaking her record of assists, kills, points, and aces.
At No. 3 is Louisville. Their current record is 7-2. The Cardinals second loss of the season was 3-2 Kentucky.
No. 4 is Stanford University, moving up two ranks since preseason. Their current record is 6-2 with their most recent win against UC Davis.
Two Cardinals to watch this next match are Julia Blyashov and Spencer Etzler. Blyashov and Etzler both had an amazing game against UC Davis, with Etzler reaching her season highs.
Blyashov took the top spot with points (13.5) and kills (10). Etzler reached the top of the team in digs (10).
Pittsburgh moved up two spots to No. 5, as the Pennsylvania women’s volleyball rivalry broke their way in Pitt’s recent victory over Penn State.
