Lynn, Central Oklahoma, and Tampa showcase standouts, rank top three women’s volleyball programs in week two DII poll: AVCA
Nadia Rossi is one among many reasons that Lynn University garnered the most support from Division II coaches in the week two of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The private DII program in Boca Raton, Florida is ranked No. 1 in the latest poll published earlier this week. With a clean slate of 7-0 and a three-week sweep, the Fighting Knights are ones to watch.
Rossi is in charge. She has the most points (89.5) and kills (78) to date. Lynn has a match today against the University of Missouri, St. Louis at 1 pm.
Central Oklahoma had a record of 10-0. They are 12-0 as of Friday.
They sit in the No. 2 slot. The Bronchos have three athletes with eye-popping stats: Kamryn Glover (140.5 points), including 115 kills; Mikiah Perdue (139.0 points), including, 112 kills; and, Kedron Burk (133.0 points), including 109 kills.
In their upcoming match against Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the Bronchos will have to battle their fellow Okies to see who reigns supreme.
Coming in at No. 3 is the University of Tampa with a current record of 6-0. The Spartans have climbed their way up from No. 12 in the final week of last season.
With their upcoming match, the Spartan to watch out for is Connor Rahn. She is currently holding the top spot on the team for points (70) and kills (62).
Last year as a freshman, Connor came in third for points and kills. Now as a sophomore she is dominating the court.
Tampa will go head-to-head with Valdosta State on Friday, Sept., 19.
At. No. 4 is MSU Denver whose current record is 7-1 with their only loss being against Wayne State College. They have been able to stay in the top 5 for preseason and the first two weeks.
The standout Roadrunner to watch in the upcoming match is Annika Helf, who topped the leaderboard with the most points (31.5) in their last match against Wayne State. She is also leading the team in points (131.5) and kills (116).
Finally, at No. 5 is the University of Nebraska - Kearney. They are 11-0.
