Penn Manor vs Mechanicsburg high school field hockey: District 3 Class 3A
The Penn Manor and Mechanicsburg girls field hockey teams entertained different schedule strategies.
The Comets and Wildcats are competing in the 2025 District 3 Class 3A gold medal game Saturday at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park.
The Class 3A teams have tough schedules by default.
Penn Manor competes in the power-packed Lancaster-Lebanon League. Mechanicsburg is in the Mid-Penn Conference, also oozing with deep rosters and talented coaches like L-L league.
Penn Manor dipped its toes in the Mid-Penn this fall competing against Boiling Springs and Cumberland Valley. They also took part in the MAX Field Hockey High School Showcase, a national invite only tournament.
Mechanicsburg stayed close to home, focusing on fitness and team building without the extra tests.
With their strategies, including unanticipated injuries, they both still battled stiff competition to secure their spot in the finale.

They came out firing in the quarterfinal beating Manheim Township 4-1. Throughout the season, they have allowed 32 goals, including up until the semifinal. And, they have scored 91 goals.
Penn Manor has a developed roster, even in their younger players. Chloe Hook, Morgan Hook, Kelby Dings, and Sophia Geiter have all helped to convert on attack penalty corners.
Penn Manor, which haven’t been to the gold medal round since 2017, has four gold medals.
Expect them to be all about business, energy, and fun. Penn Manor has been working for its turn at a gold for eight years.
They are quick to the ball, and generally are good at creating space around them to then smash breakaway hits.

The 2025 Wildcats have two styles. They either dictate what’s going on in the game, or they study their opponent and make adjustments along the way.
When they know they have a competitive gap, that their opponent is challenging them out of their comfort zone, they not only feed off their coach for direction, but they also look to each other to figure out how to close it.
They’ve had 17 goals scored against them during the regular season, and none in the district tournament. They scored 106 goals, which 10 have been scored in the postseason.
The Wildcats won a gold in 2022 when they were in Class 2A. A reclassification occurred last season. This is their first time competing for a gold medal in Class 3A.
