Nebraska women’s volleyball stay No. 1 in week 12 AVCA poll
Nebraska women’s volleyball remain No. 1 with an undefeated record of 26-0, according to the week 12 American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Notably, the Cornhuskers secured a nail-biting win against UCLA this week, dropping the second set — the first set they have lost since September 16 against Creighton University.
The standout player for Nebraska this week is senior outside hitter Taylor Landfair. In the team's match against the University of Southern California, Landfair led the team with 10 kills and a total of 25 attacks.
Nebraska's next match is scheduled for November 20 against Iowa.
The Kentucky Wildcats hold the No. 2 spot with a 22-2 record and an impressive 19-match winning streak.
Senior Eva Hudson has dominated throughout the season, recently earning both the Southeastern Conference's (SEC) Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards. In the team's last match against the University of Arkansas, Hudson recorded a team-high 15 kills.
Kentucky will begin the SEC Tournament on November 23.
Texas is ranked No. 3 with a 21-2 record and a three-match winning streak.
Junior libero Ramsey Gary was the Longhorns' standout performer this week. In their last match against South Carolina, Gary led the team with 11 digs.
The Longhorns' next match is the first round of the SEC Tournament on November 23.
The University of Pittsburgh comes in at No. 4 with a record of 22-4.
Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Gregoire stood out for the Panthers this week, achieving a team-high 20 kills in the team's last match against California.
Pittsburgh is set to play Syracuse on November 21.
Stanford University rounds out the top five with a 24-4 record.
Sophomore middle blocker Lizzy Andrew was the standout player this week, leading the team with 11 kills in their last match against SMU.
