Top five high school field hockey programs by PIAA district the week of Oct 5: PA rankings
October has arrived, and Pennsylvania high school field hockey is entering the stretch when every result can shape a postseason seed.
District tournaments begin in several parts of the state during the week of Oct. 26, leaving teams roughly three weeks to sharpen their penalty-corner execution, protect leads and build momentum.
The survivors will advance to the PIAA state tournament, whose first round is scheduled for Nov. 10.
At the top of the statewide picture, unbeaten Palmyra has set the pace, while Villa Maria Academy, Crestwood, Warwick, Wilson and Emmaus are among the teams producing strong records and positioning themselves as serious threats. Mechanicsburg and Lower Dauphin remain firmly in the conversation, and District 1 has a crowded group led by Boyertown, Villa Maria, Quakertown, Central Bucks West and Conestoga.
Here are the top five teams in districts that report scores and power rankings online. FAN has listed districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 11. Districts 2 and 4 share teams.
