Tufts and Johns Hopkins field hockey: Elite Eight to Final Four
The 2025 Division III national field hockey championship will feature Tufts and Johns Hopkins.
Here is a look at how the got there.
- Johns Hopkins 3, Middlebury 0: The Blue Jays defeated the seven-time reigning NCAA champion Panthers. Goals were scored by Sophia Albano, Kaitlin Coward, and Grace Nockolds. Aubrey Kilgore recorded four saves for Johns Hopkins, and Izzy Redzic had two for Middlebury.
- Tufts 3, Bates 1: Tufts won after goals from Hannah Biccard, Lilly Ragusa, and Reagan Malo. Caroline Nowak scored the lone goal for Bates. Goalkeeper Lydia Eastburn had two saves for the Jumbos, and Ava Donohue recorded three for the Bobcats.
- Babson 1, Wesleyan (CT) 0: Babson advanced with a second-quarter goal from Laney Reed. Madison Tibbals notched two saves for Babson, while Audrey Pace tallied one for Wesleyan.
- Christopher Newport 1, Salisbury 0: Christopher Newport continued its run with a fourth-quarter goal from Riley Iasiello. Captains goalkeeper Lily Kerr earned her 64th career victory, tying the seventh-highest mark in NCAA Division III history. Kelly Davis tallied four saves for Salisbury.
Final Four
- Tufts 1, Christopher Newport 0: The game's only goal came early in the second quarter from Ragusa, assisted by Biccard and Gabby Sousa. It was the Jumbo’s seventh shutout of the season. Tufts goalie, Eastburn, made two saves, and junior Claire Casey contributed two crucial defensive saves early in the game. Tufts had a slight advantage in shots (8-5) and corners (3-3). The Jumbos handed Chris Newport its only loss on the season.
- Johns Hopkins 1, Babson 0: The Johns Hopkins field hockey team defeated Babson 2-1 in double overtime on Friday, securing their spot in the national championship game. Albano scored the unassisted game-winner with 3:58 left in the second overtime. This will be their fourth national championship game appearance in five years.
