UConn remains undefeated as Alabama jumps to top 25 in women’s college basketball poll
As the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s March Madness Tournament approaches, the top 25 teams are beginning to solidify as leading contenders.
Alabama has made waves in recent women’s basketball news, earning one of the biggest jumps in ranking this week. Winning 15 of their first 16 games, the Crimson Tide have achieved some of their biggest ranked wins in recent days beating the Kentucky Wildcats and the Missouri Tigers.
Alabama is heading into their final stretch of big games on their schedule before March Madness.
Iowa, currently ranked No. 11, is on a four-game winning streak with only two losses this season to Iowa State and UConn.
On Sunday, they had their biggest comeback win since 2022 against Indiana, giving the Hawkeyes more confidence going into the March tourney.
Louisiana State, which currently stand at 16-2 overall after challenging back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt and Kentucky, scored a huge win over then No. 2 ranked Texas Sunday night.
Junior guard for LSU, Mikaylah Williams, scored 20 points and racked up 7 rebounds to lead the Tigers to their impressive win.
UConn, ranked No. 1, is one of only three top 25 ranked teams left undefeated this season.
Given the strength of their schedules, UConn is ranked above Vanderbilt and Texas Tech, but being undefeated increases pressure on UConn as the Huskies close in on being the top seeded team in the post-season tournament.
