Expert recruiting tips from Brown University’s head field hockey coach Britt Broady: The LineUP

The LineUP

With the constant changes in college sports, prospective student-athletes likely have many questions about navigating the recruiting process.

The LineUP, a female-led family business, recently hosted its annual field hockey ID Clinic at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Their second summer Mega Event will be held on July 19 at Fore Kicks III Indoor and Outdoor Sports Complex in Taunton, Massachusetts.

Registration recently ended for the July 19 event. Visit The LineUP’s website for more information about their events.

This clinic offers athletes a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to college field hockey coaches, learn more about the recruiting process, connect with new friends, and enjoy playing the game alongside athletes from across the country.

Female Athlete News recently partnered with The LineUP, and as part of this series, FAN interviewed seven Division I coaches.

This interview was sponsored by TheLineUP.

College: Brown University

Head Coach: Britt Broady

Division: I

Conference: Ivy

2024 Record: 9-8 overall, 4-3 conference

2024 Notable:

Lucy Adams, rising Brown senior, was one of 24 athletes selected to compete for Team USA in both of the recent Cathy Bessant International Series (Ireland and New Zealand). She most recently was selected to the travel roster for the 2025 Pan American Cup.

“As we strive for more success and wins, we are committed to maintaining our strong team culture and identity,” Broady said. “At Brown, we believe that all team members are equal shareholders in our program. Your role — whether you are a first-year student, an All-American senior, or even a member of the senior national team — does not diminish your value as a teammate. This principle also applies to our coaching staff; we are all equal shareholders, moving forward together. We will continue to uphold this philosophy as we push ourselves to improve.”

What do you like about attending The LineUp:

“We have a couple different kids on the team right now that are really thriving that I either noticed for the first time at The LineUP or one of them actually made my final decision to offer her a roster spot when I saw her play at The LineUP,” Broady said.

“So the fact that these kids are looking for the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, whether it be Division I, II, or III, is just exceptional. All these kids are just exceptional. And then to be able to manage the stress is really the important part so that you just know that you're gonna find a spot, know that it's gonna all work out okay. And it might not be the spot that you think was your No. 1 pick, but when you get there, if you embrace it and you really pour yourself into that program, you're probably gonna have a really great experience.”
