Point Loma women’s volleyball crack top five ranking in Division II women’s volleyball week seven poll: AVCA

Brynne Topolski (Washburn), Connor Rahn (Tampa), and Valeriya Kozlova (Barry) have all contributed to the success of their respective women’s college volleyball teams.

The women’s volleyball team at the University of Tampa shows no signs of slowing down, even with 11 games remaining on the regular season’s schedule.

Last week, the Spartans faced off with Barry, a top five ranked squad in Division II volleyball.

Barry retained their No. 3 spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association week seven poll, even after Tampa took them down. The top five spots have remained consistent in recent weeks, according to the poll.

Unrelenting at the net, Tampa currently stands at a 17-0 record. They are in the No. 1 spot again this week.

Sophomore outside hitter Connor Rahn has been instrumental, leading the team with 196 kills overall.

The Spartans beat Florida Southern this week and are scheduled to compete against Embry-Riddle on Friday.

Washburn University holds the No. 2 spot with a 19-1 record and a seven-match winning streak.

Sophomore outside hitter Brynne Topolski notably achieved 10 kills in their recent match against Missouri Southern State University, placing her second on the team with 157 kills.

Washburn is set to play Emporia State University on October 24.

Barry University, with a current 15-2 record, is ranked No. 3.

Freshman outside and middle hitter Valeriya Kozlova has consistently led the team in kills, accumulating 223 this season.

The University of Nebraska-Kearney is ranked No. 4 with a 20-2 record and a two-match winning streak.

Graduate student and outside hitter Carly Purdy leads the team with 252 kills this season, demonstrating consistent growth.

Nebraska-Kearney will play Fort Hays State University on October 25.

Finally, Point Loma Nazarene University is No. 5 with a 16-2 record and a three-match winning streak.

Senior libero Macy Reynolds has been a standout, leading the team in digs for the past two matches and overall with 342 digs, including a season-high of 37. Point Loma Nazarene University will play Hawai’i Pacific University on October 24.
