PSAC field hockey teams rank high in week one poll: NFHCA
The Kutztown field hockey team are No. 1 in the week one National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll after their third shutout prior to the poll’s release.
The week one composite ranking of the top 10 teams was published Tuesday by the coaches association.
The Golden Bears, which defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania 4-1 Wednesday, also set a new single-season program record with 26 goals scored across the first three games.
The roster’s offensive power was evident in that 11 players scored during the game.
Shippensburg climbed two spots to No. 2. And, East Stroudsburg remains steady at No. 3.
The Warriors revealed multiple scoring threats in a 10-2 win over Adelphi, with seven different goal scorers.
West Chester makes a big jump to No. 4, up from No. 7, following a win over then No. 2 Saint Anselm.
Bloomsburg rises one spot to No. 5, improving to a 5-0 record.
Both Mansfield (No. 6) and Newberry (No. 7) moved up three positions from last week.
Southern New Hampshire holds steady at No. 8 after a 3-0 win over Lincoln Memorial, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Two new teams break into the poll, Lander University (No. 9) and Millersville (No. 10) this week.
Defending national champion Saint Anselm has dropped out of the top 10 after opening the season with back-to-back losses.
Bolded teams have moved positions higher or lower from week-to-week.
